1 year anniversary portraits

I already told you that my big brother took some photos of me and my hubby while we were down in Charleston on our anniversary trip. Isn't this location awesome? I wanted us to wear something simple so we wouldn't distract from the background. I love this one. <3 I love the look on Mike's face. No, he doesn't make that face ever time I kiss him! What can I say? I love getting my picture taken! This one, I took. Thanks, Leo! :)

31 photos in 31 days: 14

Yeah, I know. I've missed a few days. But I'm making up for it today by posting lots of photos! We're celebrating our 1-year anniversary! Can you believe it's already been a year? To dinner tonight, I wore the same adorable dress and shoes that I wore at our rehearsal and dinner . After the dinner, I still had lots to do and was pretty stressed. I'd like to call out the wonderful Anne Marie , for being there for me that night. And being patient even thought I was probably not much fun to be with. Anyway, on to lots of pictures of me and HerrKuech. I love him!

31 photos in 31 days: 5

This photo is part of my wedding redux photography. Basically, I'm taking the wedding photos that I never got. I actually went out today with my friend Jennie and took some bridals. It was so much fun to be in my wedding dress again! I felt like a princess!

Wedding Redux

What's a girl with a camera and no subject to do on her day off work? Wedding redux. I had a great photographer at my wedding. Except he's not a wedding photographer, he's a landscape photographer. He does absolutely gorgeous work! But he's not a wedding photographer. Granted, I'm no wedding photographer either! But I had a camera, a dress, and time...so I decided to give it a try. I'm pretty happy with them, considering I'm so amateur. I'm not done editing them, but I just wanted to post one as a teaser.

getting ready for the michigan reception

This picture was taken with my phone as I was getting ready for our Michigan wedding reception. By the way, I absolutely LOVED my hair that day...way more than my wedding day! I curled it with a flat iron. ;) But I didn't like the original. Everything is too, well, orange! I am no photoshop genius. Heck, I can barely figure out how to turn the program on. And anyway, I don't need to do all the crazy cool stuff that photoshop can do. I need to crop this picture or change the contrast with that one. So, what I use is Picasa . It's simple but it does the editing I need. And, anyway, I just felt like sharing that for all you other bloggers who don't use photoshop. Picasa is FREE and super user-friendly. p.s. Don't forget to enter my giveaway ! It ends January 5th!

there was no shotgun

We were engaged for a grand total of five weeks. (Less a few hours if you're really nit picky.) Some people, upon finding out I was getting, or, if afterwards, had gotten, married so quickly, asked if I was pregnant. No. Most definitely not pregnant. Though, Mike did like to joke that I was. This joke, by the way, was NOT FUNNY. This joke accompanies other jokes Mike enjoys that are actually not funny, examples of which include farting in enclosed elevators and scaring Tiffany while she is taking a peaceful shower. Jokes aside, why did we get married so quickly? It all started the day after we got engaged when Mike asked if we could...maybe...see about planning this thing quickly? Like in six weeks? Other that the three-or-four-months that we were thinking about? Is he CRAZY? Was my first thought. No, wait, that was my second thought. My first thought was Awwwww, he can't wait to marry me!!! *insert goofy smile here* I said that sure, we could try. And then, while meeting wit...

wedding pics

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. Things have been pretty crazy for me lately what with work, school, and the whole being married thing. I've been pretty tired all week and one of the major factors is sharing a bed! Mike and I are both having to get used to sharing a queen-sized bed when we're both used to having one of our own. Not that I'm complaining, because I love to be near the man. Since I haven't updated in a while, I though I'd give you some wedding photos to look at.

August 15, 2009

As of right now, I've been married now for about seven and a half days. I've got to say, I thought it would feel a lot different. I was waiting for it to "hit me." You know, reality. The death of my bachelorettehood. Some sort of shock that I'm actually a Mrs. now. Or, at least, some weirdness. It hasn't hit me yet in the shocking sort of way that I expected--good or bad. I haven't woken up and though "Oh goodness, what did I do ?" I hear this is a thought many freshly married people have, albeit generally short lived. I have, however, woken up and thanked God for giving us the mind to have a whirlwind engagement. What has hit me is that, after getting married, we're not any different. I'm sitting on the couch updating my blog next to Mr. K who is playing Halo. Tonight is like any normal night except, for the first time, I don't have to drive home. Yes, we're official, but they dynamics between us are the same. It feels so natu...

10 Day Weather Forecast

I am constantly checking the 10-day weather forecast for my city and boy does the predicted weather for August 15th change a lot! It went from 60% to 20% back up to 60% chance of precipitation just in the past 24 hours. I can't worry about it too much right now because #1, it keep changing and #2, there isn't exactly anything I can do about it. Yes, we do have a back-up plan but I'd rather not have to use it. Just pray that it doesn't rain until we're in the (dry) reception hall.

The Letter K

My ring is getting resized right now. While I was so bummed to part with it on Saturday night, I'm excited that I'll get it back soon and it will fit much better. In the meantime, I've taken to wearing a substitute ring that I found while going through my mom's jewelry a few weeks ago. My mom couldn't tell me anything about this ring; she had no idea where it had come from. But it fit me perfectly and so she gave it to me. The cool thing about this is that in two weeks my last name is going to start with...you guessed it! The letter K.

DIY bouquet trial run

Inspired by some pretty flowers I saw at Publix after picking out my bridesmaids' dresses and this article from Real Simple, I decided something crazy. Why don't I make my own bouquet for the wedding? Materials I used: 7/8" silver ribbon ($2.00 for 7 yards)* floral wire ($1.14 for 175 feet)* floral stem wrapping tape ($1.00 for two 1/2"x90' rolls)* long pearlized pins ($2.47 for 100) 2 dozen pink & white roses ($5.00 per dozen)* kitchen scissors * indicates sale price First thing I did was open up the cellophane and lay out the roses. And then I decided to take some completely unnecessary photos. Then, I actually got to work and took all the leaves and thorns off the stems. Then I tried to take an action shot of me bundling the roses. I failed miserably and cut off my head. Take your time bundling, though! It's easy to get your flowers uneven which, if you continue, you'll see that I did just that. Next, I wrapped floral wire around two points on t...

In last night's bad dream...

I took a nap and ended up sleeping through most of my wedding reception. I find the photographer finishing up taking photos. And I missed them ALL. There was a Halo 3 tournament at my reception which was catered by Chick-fil-a. They say that something will go wrong on your wedding day so be prepared and don't freak out. I'm mentally prepped for rain (the wedding is outside) or flower mishaps. But not for a Halo 3 tournament. I texted Mike this morning and told him about that part of my dream. His response? "was going to surprise you"

pack rat

I've slowly been accomplishing one of the most daunting tasks on my to-do-before-August-15th check list. Packing & moving. Luckily, Mike lives ten minutes on a bad day away from me and so I've been able to take a few things each trip. The biggest load of little stuff was my first trip: books! I intended to just take a few, but then my roommate and I just put ALL of them in the trunk of my car. I only have about a hundred-ish books but together with Mike, our books fill up five bookcases! This evening, while Mike led a guys' bible study, I started weeding through my stuff and was amazed at how much junk I like to stuff into my tiny bedroom. I'm a recovering pack-rat, you know. After a move in May 2008 and a de-cluttering sometime in the past six months, I still have a lot of clutter. Oh, and I'm being serenaded by my Pandora playlist based of of "At Last" by Etta James. The songs have included ones by The Platters, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson, A...

So, when are you getting married?

My roommate asked me this shortly after barging in my room to see my ring. (Barging in rooms in not always acceptable. When it involves engagement rings, however, it totally is.) Like, three months. I said, nonchalantly. Oh my gosh! You're already into your 90-day countdown! But our 90-day countdown only lasted one day, because the next day, Mike threw out this idea: Would you be open to....if God just opened up doors and let everything fall into place...getting married in, like, six weeks? It was a crazy thought. Six weeks? Is that even possible? But I agreed. Hey--the sooner I'm married to this wonderful man, the better! Well, we decided to try and plan a wedding before I started school. The new date gave me exactly five weeks from the day I got engaged. Oh. my. gosh. But guess what? God really is just bringing everything together. We've started pre-marital counseling. I've bought my dress and I'll get it back from the alteration shop at least 10-days prior to th...

picture time!

Mike and I right after he proposed. and a few shots of the gorgeous ring that he designed just for me ^_^

How many days does it take to plan a wedding?

And praise God, everything is really falling into place. ^_^

Proposal

I knew it was coming. I mean, I didn’t know it was coming *today* or anything...but I knew that it would be here soon. We even went ring shopping a few weeks ago. The trip was thoroughly unsuccessful, though, because it is impossible to get something “uniquely from him” FROM THE MALL.  In order to get that unique ring, he had been designing one, but it was slow going. However, when we planned on going hiking, nothing seemed amiss. After all, I was the one who first mentioned wanting to hiking a few weeks ago. We were headed there and he was unsure as to whether the hike would be successful from the get-go. He hadn’t been out there in nearly a decade and wasn’t even sure if he would be able to find the trail. But, yay, we found the trail. It was off behind an old baptist church and by the way he spoke of it, no one used it much. “Great. We’re going to get eaten by a bear,” said the gal who only ever had done hiking by the book. There were definitely no blazes on this trail. Lu...

Wedblog, the introduction

What's a wedblog? Well, the word itself is part wedding, part play on the word "weblog." Oh, yes, you did read that right. WEDDING . As in, Mike and I got engaged on Saturday. It was beautiful and perfect and I'll tell you the story soon enough. I was planning on waiting for pictures before I posted the news to the world wide web, but either my card reader or my usb ports are bad and I cannot currently upload any photos. And I'm eager to start writing about it! The number two question we get asked (after how did he propose?) is When is the date? Well, we've decided that we've been dating long enough and we want to get married as soon as possible. I'm not entirely sure what that will mean until I finalize a venue. But it definitely will be an adventure!
