Lazy photographer

I've always been, what I like to call, a "lazy photographer." I like to take pictures--and lots of them--but I don't like to mess around with all that confusing technical stuff on the camera. Even though I'm using a really nice camera that, as it turns out, can take pictures like this one: Sunshine *and* milky water? Who'd've known? That picture was taken with a high aperture, low ISO and slow shutter speed. All of this was instructed by my brother who just fiddled with his camera for a moment and figured it out. After trying to take pictures of rain this morning and epically failing... What is that? Okay, well, that picture is due to a shaky hand and laziness (there is a tripod in the house...somewhere...) But I think that I'd like to learn more about this f-stop and ISO stuff. But, get this, my brother (who takes phenomenal photos) said something crazy yesterday like he doesn't think I'm a better photographer than him. He

Saturday shops: Industrie

I was running out of shops to promote (because little ol' me cannot possibly know of every great Etsy shop to be had). So, I decided to ask for suggestions in the Etsy forums. I got a lot of responses from sellers wanting me to promote their shops. I'll only promote something if I like it--of course. This shop, Industrie , was the first shop to respond, and I love love love the creative jewelry you can find in this shop! Clear Tube Bracelet ($8) Washer Overly Earrings ($9) Washer Chain Necklace ($60)

The Bachelorette

Okay, last night was the season premier of The Bachelorette . This season's Bachelorette, for those of you who don't know, is Ali! She is fan favorite from the previous season of The Bachelor . These shows come with all the faux reality that all reality TV shows come with, but since last season (my first) it's been a guilty pleasure for me. Though, after one show, I've gotta say that I think I like the Bachelor better. It's weird for the room to be filled with all these guys in suits. At least at the cocktail parties on the Bachelor, the girls were wearing gorgeous cocktail dresses! I know it's only been one show, but two guys struck my fancy as being guys that could be in the show for the long haul. I'm predicting that Ali will pick either Frank or Roberto.

As seen in...

The May issue of Skirt! magazine came out at the beginning of the month, and I haven't even shown it to you yet! It was a mother/daughter issue and I was in it with my mommy! She's in the Philippines right now and has been for a while. She gets home June 8th (her b-day!) and I can't wait! :) photo by John Fowler You can read all about it here: Veronica Heuser and Tiffany Kuechenmeister | Crafty Women

Making a german chocolate cake...

...and making good use of Mike's old Starbuck's apron! I like it because it's adjustable and I'm short. :) I've been in the kitchen a lot these past few days. Waffles (from scratch) and brownies (from the box) yesterday. Puff puff pancake and german chocolate cake today. Yummy! :)

change of url

Hey friends! My url is expiring soon, so make sure to updated your bookmarks to http://fraukuech.blogspot.com Right now, that still redirects you to www.tiffanyheuser.net, but that should expire tomorrow or the next day. [Update: Okay, the GoDaddy website said this domain expired on May 1st...but I've still got it? Also, I got an email from them saying that they'll try again (to get me to renew) on May 13th. So I assume I have it until then? I'm a little confused. Either way, I'm NOT renewing and I will shortly stop this blog from being redirected to www.tiffanyheuser.net.] I enjoyed having a personal domain name while it lasted, but since this is just a personal blog, I think I can manage the blogspot domain. :) By the way, I've got tons of photos to share with you from Bangladesh and my house. Did I tell you that we moved in the weekend we got home? Yep. It's such a great place. More soon...it's past my bedtime.

Love Aaj Kal

I watched this movie on the plane ride from Mumbai to JFK. The title translates to "Love These Days" (according to Wikipedia ). I've never really seen a Hindi movie that I really really liked, but this one was it. I wish I could find a trailer with English subtitles for you, but no such luck. Anyway, the movie centers around Jai and Meera, a modern day couple living in London who have a mutual break up so they can pursue their careers (Jai's in San Francisco, Meera's in India). The love story of Veer Singh (a man who becomes somewhat of a mentor to Jai) and Harleen runs parallel, but years earlier. I could give it all away, but I won't. I expected it to be a predictable romantic comedy, but it wasn't. And I cried at the end. Oh, I seriously loved this movie. If I ever come across a copy, I'm totally going to buy it. Here's a trailer. If you want to view a higher quality version, go here . (The good one wasn't embeddable). Watch some of the
