daily photo: crossing

I was on vacation with my parents. We were at some base near Savannah and drove past a few XING signs . These ones were a bit unusual since they had tanks on them! We had never seen any signs like that...so we pulled over and took our picture at the next one. Later, on our way to Tybee Island, we passed turtle XING signs . We pulled over, took our picture with one...and thus it began (much to my and my father's amusement and my mother's embarrassment). View the full album here . ♥, Tiffany Anne

Eyeshadow gone arwy

"Are you going to camp again tonight?" "No...why?" "Well, you don't look like you just rolled out of bed and drove here." * "Oh...well...I just woke up early."** "Right...so, what? You've a hot date tonight or something?" My boss likes to pick on me about boys whenever he gets the chance. I think it is funny and currently almost always completely inaccurate. :) For the record, no, I did not have a hot date last night. I hung out with a bunch of people from bible study and had blueberry pancakes. Yum! *This how I usually look. It is highly unusual for me to wear makeup to work. However, on days that I have to head straight from work to camp to dance , I do my hair and makeup while the kids are napping. **Translation: I felt like concealing my blemishes today.

I'm kind of pretty...

I wish I had a photo from Saturday night. It was Christmas in July...sort of. You see, for Christmas, I gave my sister two tickets to see Avenue Q. Well, really she only got one ticket since one was *clearly* for me. [Screaming and falling over after opening the envelope.] So, this past Saturday, we got all dolled up and went to see Avenue Q. It was great. Offensive...but not nearly as offensive as I had prepared myself for. But this post is not really about Avenue Q. It is more about how my girlieness rubbed off on Stargirl this past weekend. "Somehow Tiffany turned me into a girl this weekend. I'm wearing make-up and I now own a straight iron. Thanx Tiffizzle." --twitter.com/stargirl84 So says the Stargirl (how's that for alliteration?) who rarely pops in her contacts, has never used a straightening iron (before I did her hair Saturday night) , and rarely dresses girlie. When she does dress girlie, I get a pix message with a subtitle saying something al

ISO cell phone charger

While you no doubt heard over and over again about my little trip to Raleigh, you may not have heard about my phone charger being left in my hotel room. The real bummer is I am scheduled to get my upgrade on the 28th of this month and thus will be getting a new phone. I have been cell phone free for a week now and I could do another week but would really rather not have too. I have searched for chargers at Verizon, Target, and various drug stores. Result = FAIL This is sort of fine because I do not really want to shell out thirty bucks for a charger I can would only use for a few days. Turns out I may not have to be disconnected for another week. I got a call from a friend last night* and she said to check hotels to see if they have a charger for my phone. Many many other humans are as forgetful as I am and leave their expensive phone chargers in hotels all the time. Apparently, you can go into hotels and ask about phone chargers and they have got hundreds for you to dig through. I

Open Heart Surgery

Mid-summer means Wisdom Fest at my church and the series this summer is called Open Heart Surgery. Yikes...painful but effective. I was unfortunate to miss last week, but I was home today and listened to a sermon about broken hearts--in the biblical sense. "The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18 (ESV) I can be prone to the "bad" kind of brokenness. That kind of broken heart which is defined by distress as opposed to humility. The kind where you find yourself thinking, "Seriously, God, I've been patient...so could you please make it go away now?" instead of just trusting . It is so easy for me to clickity-clackity type away about trusting God and resting on His promises. However, like so many things, it is not as easy for me to live this out in real life. Theoretically, I know how to drive a straight drive. Theoretically, I know how to do a triple slide in my swing out. Theoretically, I know how to complete

...and this one is a hybrid. A hybrid? Yeah. It's half wood, half iron. Oh. ::examines it briefly:: I guess the wood is on the inside.

The Dark Night

Along with many other people in many different locations, I went to a midnight showing of The Dark Night . Notably, this was my first ever midnight showing. Unlike nearly all my fellow midnight viewers, I am not a fan of the movie. It would be a lie to say that I disliked The Dark Night in it's entirety because I did enjoy some of it, but it was a very dark movie. I do not do well with very dark things. As I exited the theater with my gaggle of friends, one looked over at me. " Did you like it? " I gave a tiny but very perceptible shake of my head. He correctly guessed that the movie disturbed me. While I was bothered by the movie, I was not scared. (I scare easily and stay scared. Those zombies from I Am Legend still freak me out and I scare myself silly thinking of them.) Despite the fact that I did not like many aspects of The Dark Night , it was a pretty dang good movie. I will not bother going into the plot line because many of you probably already know it. If you

daily photo: solo charleston

So it is not a photo...it is a video. You got lucky. No sound because the video has, obviously, been sped up. I was going to put a ragtime song in but the program did not let me use any of my cool songs. Anyway, dancing-Mike came over today to practice and video some of the moves we learned from the very awesome Nick Williams. I decided I wanted to video me doing some solo Charleston and then decided that Mike had to do it with me. The video is okay in real time...but sped up, it is quite humorous. Especially once Mike starts dancing. He-he-he. Enjoy! :) [Watch it while listening to "Charleston" by Bob Wilson & His Varsity Rhythm Boys]

Home again, home again, jiggity jig

OMG. OMG. OMG. I had a very fantastic weekend. Nick Williams asked me to dance on Friday night...it was so fantastic. Granted not my most fantastic dance ever, but still quite fantastic. He was so nice and friendly and such a great dancer. And good looking too! ;) But...oh my gosh...he started to suzie q with me. I get a chance to dance with a world renowned swing dancer and I have yet to master a freaking suzie q. Crap... Note to self: work on suzie q's... His partner was Abigail Browning who is super cute and also a fantastic dancer. I just loved to watch them dance together. There were four one-hour long classes both Saturday (Flowmentum; (Slip n') Slides; Swing High, Swing Low; Lindy Charleston) and Sunday (Further Adventures into the Swingout; Fast Lindy; Rhythm and Syncopations; Footwork & Styling) . I do not know how much I am going to be able to recall on the dance floor. The complicated slide that I learned was one I learned from Sue and Katie back at the Hig

Nick Williams Summer Workshop

I have posted this video before, I know, but I am posting it again. Why? Because tomorrow I, along with a few friends, will be headed to a workshop where we will be learning from Nick Williams. That second couple that goes out? The guy in the red shirt? Yeah, that's him. He got first place in that competition. Wish me luck. I hope I keep up.

daily photo: editing

Picture taken April 9, 2006. I was in Charleston with my parents for the weekend. They left the morning of the 8th and I stayed and extra day because I finally wanted to see what it was like to be in a strange city solo. I hated it and would have rather been with people. The morning after they left, I checked out of my hotel room and headed to the beach and took some great shots. This is one of them. The first picture used to have a place in my living room. It resides in a box now because it is not black and white and I live with roommates who are way more hip than I could ever hope to be. The second photo is the edited version. I edited it because I edit almost all my photos these days. But it just goes to show that photos can be beautiful even without fiddling with them. Which do you like better?

daily photo: bridge

This is a bridge in Charleston. It is not the Cooper River Bridge*, but the other one. The one that heads toward Folly Beach, I think. Taken May 18, 2008 when I was at the Charleston Lindy Exchange I left my camera at my work and they are gone for the week, so when I do remember to post daily photos this week, they will be ones from days past--be it two days past or two hundred days past. * (taken 4/9/06)

daily photo: taking photos

No clarification needed. He is just that good.

She made her way to the sound booth and grabbed my shoulders. "Good lord!" She exclaimed with excited eyes. "You just danced with him again, didn't you?" "Oh my gosh, yes." Really, that's all there is too it. To quote my friend Shawna: "i love dancing...i mean, i REALLY love dancing. it's weird...when you have a good dance the whole world seems right and you just want to stay there forever. if you don't dance this all probably seems like silliness. but if you do...well, you know :-)"
