What Is Important Is What You Believe

Have you seen it yet? My sister entered my parents house last Sunday with rave reviews of this much anticipated movie . So, last night, when Mike and I could not get into the last showing of the latest X-Men movie , we decided to see the controversial flick, " The DaVinci Code ." I, for one, would have preferred Harrison Ford as Robert Langdon, if only because Professor Langdon is likened to Harrison Ford in the novel. Tom Hanks was an OK Langdon though. Sophie Neveu was portrayed by Audrey Tautou . Fabulous, I though, and very cute. Alfed Molina was an awful choice for Bishop Aringarosa. I was only waiting for long mechanical arms to sproud from his spine (per Spiderman 2 ). Ian McKellen as Sir Leigh Teabing was nicely done. Good choice. Jean Reno was strong Captain Fache and I really liked his character. Finally, we have dear Silas. How was Paul Bettany in the role? Fabulous. When he lunged from the shadows my body involuntarily leaped from my cushy black chair. I

Thirteen Things that Tiffany is Thinking 1. My arm hurts. I got my blood drawn for the first time today. Well, the first time that I can remember...apparently, I got blood drawn as a baby. It wasn't so bad. But now my arm is a little sore. 2. I have an ugly smile. I got a tooth pulled on Monday. So my smile has a hole in it. It's not very pretty. I cannot wait until the teeth come together. 3. My arch-wires are poking me. It's really annoying and it hurts my cheek. It makes talking a less likely thing for me to do. 4. I cannot believe I'm going on the Pill. Yeah. The Pill. My periods are so crazy, that their putting me on ortho-tri-cyclen. 5. I like my A-cups. Mary's breasts increased two cup sizes when she went on the pill. I don't want the same to happen to me. I like my little breasts. 6. I don't want my body chemistry to change. When you mess with your hormones, that happnes. But I just am nervous (not really nervous...that's too strong of a word

The tick-tock of the clock is painful

It's a countdown that is bittersweet. 9 days until June 2nd. I'm excited for June 2nd because camp starts! Yay! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. I'm worried that I won't do a good job. Camp is such an awesome place, and I cannot wait to immerse myself in that world. I'm also not-so-excited because this means my every-spare-moment spree with Mike comes to an abrupt halt. Terribly abrupt. He'll be in Georgetown doing a photo shoot that evening and then I won't be able to see him again until he leaves for Bangladesh. He'll be there for nearly three weeks. Timing is good though, I suppose. He's gone when I'm gone. A few days after Mike leaves for the 3rd-world, I leave with Dad and Mary for Reno. Drinking and gambling with my sis and my daddy. I must say, I am a bit excited about this. This summer will be really awesome, but it will also suck. Must remember to look on the bright sides. Mike says that this summer will either make us o

Biltmore Estate

I went to Biltmore on Thursday. In fact, that was what I was going to do my Thursday Thirteen about. But I forgot. (And subsequently on Friday I forgot as well.) I didn't forget my Wordless Wednesday though. See, I was very stressed and frustrated that day. Work has been uber-annoying lately. Alex has just been in a funk, I guess. But I digress. Biltmore Estate up in Asheville, NC. It was beautiful. I have a few pictures that I'll post as soon as Mike gets them to me. But here are some photos from the website to appease you until then. Biltmore House Biltmore Gardens George Vanderbilt's Library The Banquet Hall during Christmas The Winery Inn on Biltmore Estate The tour through the house is a self-guided one. Mike and I opted out of the head phones. So, we were probably missing out on lots of really interesting information. It was already a lot to take in, as neither Mike nor I had ever been up to Biltmore. There was so much to see, all of it so beautiful. I kept walking ar

When you smile, I melt inside

Last night was so much fun. Mike and I went on our 'first date.' Haha. You may be confused, but this is true. Last night we went on our first real dinner date. Isn't that crazy? We've hung out a lot and I've cooked for each other a couple of times and the like, but before last night, we had yet to go on a real dinner date. I wore my cute new outfit (pink skirt with black polka dots, black wrap shirt over pink camisole). Mike cleaned up well too ;-) and looked way hot. Mike asked me where I wanted to go and I said: surprise me. So he did. We had reservations for 7pm and when I asked him "Where?" (several times) he replied with, "A restaurant!" We went to Sophisticated Palate which has been described as " one of Greenville's best kept secrets ." It was absolutely fabulous. I highly reccomend it. We stayed for almost two hours enjoying each other's company. An older gentleman (I think he may be the owner) gave us each a drink on

Resentment

My brother. Ah. Not a subject I broach very often. Sure, I have no problem dishing out the facts (my brother is in jail for drug trafficking methamphetamines) So, I feel all this awful resentment towards my brother. I feel really bad about it because I know he's a changed person. But it's there. You know? Can't deny it. Oh sure, I ignore it. I pretend that I don't care. But all that snow melts away eventually.I've got all this bottled up emotion inside of me about my brother that I've never really dealt with. It didn't need dealing with, as long as my brother was incarcerated.

Following God's Law To The Letter

CHECK THIS OUT: (thanks Marcus) Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura penned by an east coast resident, which was posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative: Dear Dr. Laura: Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them: When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The

In This Diary

I was re-reading my diary today. I've had it for a few years now and I only write in it every so often. It's fun and interesting to re-read. It got me thinking, though. How many times have I been so sure about something, only to be so wrong? I often think that I know exactly what is right or what I need, and life turns out so differently. A good different. My life is better right now than I could have ever imagined. I love my life. I really truly do. Maybe later, I'll list the things I'm greatful for, and it shall be pages and pages long. The way life turns out is almost never the way you expect. I was talking to Mike about this the other day. About how you envision things happening, but these things happen differently. At first, you might be upset, but you soon realize that what happened wasn't so bad afterall. You might get a rainbow after suffering though that thunderstorm. I like rainbows.

Thursday Thirteen #17

13 Things about Tiff-izzle 1. I took my last exam Thursday. School is offically over for the summer. The previous post shows my final grades. Right now, I've only got my Ethics grade back, but I'm feeling positive. 2. I may have even passed Anthropology. 3. There was Thursday night. Fr. Chris was giving a talk on vocations and stuff. (I know, I'm so eloquent, right?) It was pretty cool. 4. was playing at after Theology Au Latte. Mike and I got to hear "Hallelujah" (the Jeff Buckley song) before having to leave. 5. Friday night was the big date. "Lend Me A Tenor" at the and then wine and tapas at The Cazbah. Well, that was the plan. It ended up being Mike and me plus my parents and my sis & Jeff. We went to the play and then went back to the apartment for wine and dinner. But the chinese place was closed so Mary & Jeff picked up Taco Bell. 6. Mike and I went to pick up some wine. We got these two: Barefoot Wine, White Zinfandel Three Blind M

Apartment

I get to keep my apartment! Hurrah. I wooed my parents with my domestic skillz. So, when Adam comes to visit, he gets a guest room instead of the couch. "Yeah, that's cool, because I have a friend coming down to visit me from Connecticut." "Oh, that's great!" "Yeah, and now he can use my guest room." "He?" "Yeah." ::pause:: "Don't tell your dad these things."

the best things in life are free, but you can give them to the birds and bees. I want money.

Flying Lizards - I Want Money. I first heard it from the movie Empire Records. If you haven't seen that movie I highly suggest it. Why the money subject? Because I just realized that I use about 10% of my income last month on gasoline. Is that a lot? A little? How much do you use? Must get back to studying.... BTW, there's a 'Hump-Day' Modern tonight. And I am offically excited about it. ♥~Tiffany p.s. my boyfriend is super "Lucas wants money. Lotsa money. Joe's money..."

Fancy Cam

Mike let me use his fancy digital SLR camera today. I played around a bit and I took a couple of really cool shots. Hmm...maybe I should invest in one.

Spider Bite

I woke up this morning and my hip itched. I examined it and noticed a swelling that was about 1 inch x 1/2 inch. Oh great, I though, a spider bite. I've seen ONE spider in my house since I moved here (remember, Mike? It ran across my leg and I screamed). How does a spider possibly get into my bed??? The swelling is now 4 inches x 3 inches. And it still itches. Yeah, I think it's gross too.
