Happy Chrismahanukwanzakah

Today has been a good day. It's Christmas Eve--finally. This year has really flown by, there is only one week left until 2007! I went to church--my church. It's weird to be distinguishing my church as being different from my parents. And in reference to my previous blog "transformation," while many people may think that I'm over playing religion , you've probably never had to tell your parents that you are leaving the Catholic church. That is a big deal. I'm not saying anyone was wrong...it's just probably a bigger deal than most people realize. So many of my friends have absolutely no idea what a hard thing it was to do and how hard it is to deal with the still occuring consequences. But I digress. I wanted to talk about Christmas! I'm finally finished with everyone's presents. (Okay, well, I'm almost finished with my brothers.) And I delivered the Godlewski's gifts today. Alex and Lauren each got a book, slippers, and a University of

Maybe I really should crack down this year. ♥Tiffany♥

A transformation that is long in the making

The chasm between the Roman catholic church and the evangelical protestant church is vast. I know, I am in many ways a part of both. Easter Sunday 2006 was my the first service at North Hills Community Church. The message was good, but certain things left me feeling grateful for the reverence and formality of my own church, St. Mary's Catholic Church. My ever loving boyfriend continued to invite me to his church while I invited him to mine. Soon enough we were riding on that church roller coaster that was not unfamiliar to me: fitting two religions into one relationship. I realized that I could not continue to do this. The more I went to this new church, the more I loved it and the body of Christ that it contained. It began to be a church that I called my own. I then realized for the first time, the vast similarities and stark differences within my two churches. I felt as though a child of the two religions. My "parents" had divorced and joint custody was not at option. I

Miss No Nonsense Tiffany Part Deux

Being Miss No Nonsense is no fun. Who likes to be the mean person? I hate being the mean person. If he would just listen. And stop crying over EVERYTHING...the drama is too much for me. That's all I ask. Even Mike noticed it. Alex isn't mischevious (mostly) but he would be a good boy if he would just listen. I can't even tell you how many time-outs he's been in so far! Guess what else? Alex is giving up his nap. :-( ♥Tiffany♥

Land of...well...a lot of things

I'm writing and editing copy for one of Mike's websites right now. In the process I'm having to do a lot of fact checking (via Wikipedia...does that still count as fact checking?) and so I'm learning an awful lot about northern Afghanistan locales. It's pretty interesting. I never even heard of Marco Polo sheep until today! School is out, hurrah. I've got final grades for 3 out of 4 classes. And my mediocre grades really make me want to crank down so I can get the grades I know I deserve. You know what my problem was? I skipped classes too much (oh, but it's just so easy!) and forgot to do homework assignments. So, my grades thus far are as follows: Western Civilization Post 1689: C Intro to Philosophy: ??? Human Growth & Development: C Intermediate Algebra: B OMG, I could have totally done better. A new semester is on the horizon. A fresh start. American Government, College Algebra, Speech (eek!), and Creative Writing. Oh, I am so excited ab

Some Instructions on Writing and Life

"December is traditionally a bad month for writing. It is a month of Mondays. Mondays are not good writing days. One has had all that freedom over the weekend, all that authenticity, all those dreamy dreams, and then your angry mute Slavic Uncle Monday arrives, and it is time to sit down at your desk. So I would simply reccomend to the people in my workshop that they never start a large writing project on any Monday in December. Why set yourself up for failure?" --Anne Lamott, "Bird by Bird"

Well, okay, so it was actually on the 12th...

! I had the most amazing birthday every. To everyone that showed up last night, sent me a card, called me, text messaged me, e-mailed me, facebooked/myspaced me: you made me feel loved. Sunday, I went out to dinner with my parents and sister to Flat Rock and then to Barley's to play pool. A good ol' Heuser time! haha. Monday, I got presents from the nanny-fam. Tuesday, Mike bought me roses, a book of poetry and a book about writing, and a really sweet card. And that evening we went out to dinner at one of our favorite places: Sophisticated Palate. Wednesday, Mike and Tim orchestrated a get-together. Everyone just started showing up at Mike's after dinner and suddenly there are cards, a cake with 22 candles, and people are singing to me. I have the best friends in the whole world and the best boyfriend ever. God seriously blessed me this year! ♥Tiffany♥

I've been decorating for Christmas! My christmas tree: My Christmas floral bouquet: My snowman filled with Hershey's Hugs: ♥Tiffany♥ Guess what I got at the white elephant gift exchange: Aren't you jealous?

I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash, it's a gas gas gas!

So, I have a gas stove and I need HELP . [By the way, those of you in my Shepherding Group...I apologize for the cookies that I'm going to bring tonight...it was my first time baking in a gas oven....] Mike came over and I made linguini with sun-dried tomatoes. That's right oooh and aaaah. It was very easy and I got the recipie from a cook book called " 365 20-Mintue Recipes ." Oddly enough, a lot of the 20-minute meals are comprised of fancy ingredients that I don't usually have in my kitchen...but I suppose it's a decent enough way to expand my culinary skills. Once can only make baked spaghetti and chicken-and-rice so many times. Of course...the stuffed chicken never goes outta style. ;-) Anyhow, the actual dinner was okay, Mike liked it well enough. (or so he said) But after he left, I remembered that I had yet to bake the cookies that I said I would bring and Mike said would be good. So, I baked them like I thought I should. And the took too long an
