Grandpa

I was in Florida for all of last week. My grandpa had taken a turn for the worst and so my parents rushed down on Saturday. Leo, Mary & I drove down Sunday. By Monday, all my grandpa's seven kids were there. The time was spent laughing, talking, and sharing memories. And, of course, giving my grandpa ice cream, doughnuts, and KFC. My grandpa died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday morning and we were blessed to be able to spend his last few days with him. We spent a good bit of time going through photos and here are just a few I wanted to share. We spend a lot of time going through old pictures that week. This is one of my favorites: grandpa and two of his buddies. They're probably calling up some chicks. :) Another one of my favorites. Clockwise from top left: Uncle Mike, Uncle Jim, Dad, Uncle Joe, Aunt Mary Anne. Uncle Jeff (their stepbrother) joined the family a few years later when my Grandpa got remarried. Uncle Marc was a surprise baby several years late

Review: Lunasea Botanicals Luna Deep Sea Pore Refining Travel Kit {indie cosmetics company}

Marla of  Lunasea Botanicals  sent me the Luna Deep Sea Pore Refining Travel Kit . This kit is the shops number one seller and has also received the "You've Been Stalked" badge. My initial impressions fall to packaging. For a small business, you might want to just put hand written labels because, well, it's cheaper. But little things make a big difference. You can tell that this travel kit looks like something you might get from a spa.  Also, it smells like something you might get from a spa. These aren't your chemical-y, cheap, or cheesy smells. Just open one of the jars and inhale. Mmm....instantly relaxing! Now for the reviews! When applicable, I've linked the the Etsy page for the individual products. Luna Deep Sea Pore Refining Face Cleanser (2 oz) : This product did a fine job cleaning my face. I really like the pumice in the cleanser that creates some very gentle exfoliating action. It left my skin feel very soft! I was put off by

so much pretty: i really love these floral tights

See, this is what happens when I take on a challenge. I'm like, What? I have to blog about something specific every day? Sure the comments are nice, but I don't know what my favorite childhood memory is. I'm thinking about catching up. Or simply using the challenges as prompts later as I need ideas. I mean, I have a stack of old photos from my childhood that I was planning to scan...but guess that will have to wait. This outfit is from the end of February and, I'm not going to lie, I LOVE how my hair looks here. Messy, yes, but I like it. And it is getting longer. Not long enough...but it's getting there. This is how you know my bangs are getting a little long...when they are parted in the middle. I wore them to the side a few times. And, as of yesterday, I decided that I still seriously love my bangs and I'm not going to get rid of them...yet. Oh, and the denim skirt? It's from this store in Bangladesh that had all the clothes that weren&

31 Day Blog Challenge {Day 3}

What Makes You Happy? There are lot of things that make me happy! Being with my husband. Watching my dog nod off. Watching the chickies run. Lunch dates with my mom. Shopping with my sister. Twinfest. When my daddy calls because he misses me. Being able to walk across the street and hang out with my brother. Playing with the Alex, Lauren & Davis. A new eyeshadow palette. A good night's sleep. Girls' nights. A successful wedding. Taking couples' portraits. Worship time at church. Leaving the gym. Having a productive day.

31 Day Blog Challenge {Day 1}

Self portrait and 5 random facts about yourself Sometimes, when I come home it's dark outside. It crosses my mind that when I lock my car (and the horn goes off), I might have alerted the horde. You know, like  the car alarm in Left 4 Dead . If I don't have anywhere to be for most of the day, I still want to get ready for my day. So, I'll do my hair and makeup, I'll put on a nice top and earrings...but I'll keep pajama bottoms on. :) My favorite snacks are: powdered doughnuts and popcorn popped in coconut oil. I buy powdered doughnuts VERY sparingly. I think it is easier to drink a lot of water if you have a pretty glass or bottle. I'm on the fence about keeping my bangs. On one hand, they're pretty high maintenance  On the other hand, they make me feel like I look sooo cool.

March resolutions and a challenge

A lot of my March Resolutions are the same from last month. These are things that, whether I did well or failed at them in  February, I'll be keeping them on my resolution list until they become a solid habit. No-buy month. This does NOT include my Ipsy Glam Bag because that is an automatic withdrawal. Don't skip either of my bible studies Do bible study home work. Go to the gym at least twice a week. Take Bella for a walk at least once a week. Keep up with my daily cleaning schedule. Early to bed and early to rise on the weekdays. My schedule used to consist of me out of bed by 6:30am most mornings. Not so much these days as I don't usually have anywhere to be until 9:30am at the earliest. However, i must prefer waking up early to start my day. Get my makeup out of the bathroom. I hear it's not good for makeup to be in the bathroom because of the moisture, so I'm going to put together my own very modest battle station . Finish my Brand Camp w
