Wheeeee!

In the midst of the wedding planning, Mike and I decided to get a Wii as our wedding present to each other. My boss said we should get champagne glasses or something else that we could have as keepsakes forever and ever amen. We thought about watches and crystal flutes and pretty things...but in the end, I decided that I really wanted us to have a Wii. And a Wii Fit. So, when we found out that the Wii dropped in price to $199, we decided to head to the mall and snag one. We ended up going used and for $200 we got a Wii console (includes Wiimote and nunchuck) and an extra Wiimote and nunchuck! We'll wait until next week before getting a Wii Fit since the new Wii Fit Plus comes out next week. (Yay! So excited about that!) The used copy of Wii Sports didn't work (fail) but the Tomb Raider Anniversary worked fine. But, really, watching me play that game is a whole lot of fail going on. I'm slow and bad with a joystick. To quote my husband, "You have got to learn to run st

the chocolate part of mint chocolate chip

We stopped at Bruster's for ice cream--mint chocolate chip for me and birthday cake for him. I'm glad I only got a single because the ice creams were massive! Oh, and it was oh-so-good! You should know, however, that I'm very picky about my mint chocolate chip ice cream. I like the chocolate pieces not to be chips nor to be chunks; I like the skinny slivers of chocolate. Any bigger than a sliver, and I feel like I have too much chocolate in my ice cream. What? Too much chocolat? C'est nes pas possible! Yes, it's true. And the chocolate pieces in my ice cream tonight were almost perfect. You know who has the best mint chocolate chip ice cream? That is to say, the best mint chocolate chip ice cream I've had since I've come to the realization that I have specific tastes about the chocolate in my mint chocolate chip. Mayfield mint chocolate chip ice cream has the absolutely perfect sized chocolate pieces. Perfect little slivers of chocolate. I don't have a
It's pretty much assumed that many men do not notice when women sport a new 'do or buy a cute new outfit. Unless, that is, the woman points it out for them. My husband, however, has some observant friends! A few times in the past, his best friend (and best man!) has mentioned my hairstyle. Did you get it cut? It looks nice. Or hey, you're wearing your hair curly today, that's a good look! (Speaking of my hair, I'm in dire need of a haircut. Where did these split ends come from?) Another of his friends made my day today when he said, "I've noticed that you have quite the shoe collection." Which, actually, isn't really that accurate--I wear flip-flops 90% of the time. However, we do see each other at church when, of course, I'm doing things a little nicer. And, of course, his daughter tried on several pairs of my high heels when their family came over for lunch the other day. I love getting a random and unexpected compliment! So, today, why n

Red lobster: not sketchy like i thought

One of our dear friends gave Mike and I a gift card to Red Lobster four our wedding. I thought it was kind of funny at first--who even goes to Red Lobster? But we weren't going to let a perfectly good gift card go to waste! So, yesterday, we went to Red Lobster for dinner. We arrived and put our name in at the hostess table. Actually, I put it under "Mike" because our last name is 14 letters long and not the easiest to pronounce. The wait should be about 35 to 40 minutes I was told. Luckily, we ran into some family friends while waiting and were able to pass the time chatting and catching up with them. ( We got married! I said to Janice, flashing my ring. She just stared and me, not sure that she heard right. It was funny.) While sitting outside (also, luckily, it was not too hot of an evening) I came to a conclusion about the facade of the restaurant. Maybe they're going for that whole seaside, beach, wind-worn kind of look. That must be it. My graphic designer husb

Short update

I realize that I've been lazy about blogging lately. I'm trying to figure out how to juggle college, work, and being married. Actually, right now I'm blogging from one of my classes. We have a lot of rabbit trails in class and now I'm not entirely sure what the class is about. Big news in my world? I'm a homeowner! Mike and I bought a house this week. It's an old house that is in need of some serious love and it's going to take us several months to fix it up. We went to the house right after the closing and I took a few pictures that you can view here .
