31 photos in 31 days: 6

Took some photos of my house today because it's going to be featured in a magazine! How exciting. :) Of all the photos I took, I think my favorite was the bedroom, and that's the one I wanted to share.

Vicious neighbor doggies

I've been wanting to go for walks in our neighborhood since we moved here. I'd love to be able to just pop out the front do and go on a little walk. Mike and I talked about it and decided that I would probably be able to do that once we got a dog. The hesitancy to go on a solo walk is due to the neighborhood in which I live. It's that kind of neighborhood. While we love it here, we're not about to take unnecessary risks, either. Well, a few days after we got Bella, Mike and I went for a walk together. And, oh boy, you don't realize how vicious neighbor dogs are when you're in your car. When you walk past them with your little 20lb doggie on a leash...you notice. There are four pit-mixes that live across the street from us. And a dog or two that live behind us. (We're on the tip of a wedge-shaped piece of property.) Our neighbor dogs, despite their breeding, don't seem to pose any immediate threat. They seem to be very friendly with anyone who t...

Missy asked for pictures...

...and lucky her, I had just taken a few! :) I don't have pictures of all the flowers I planted, but here are a few of the honey suckle bush and a few teeny red flowers popping up on a tree. Expect more pictures soon, because we've got thunbergia , primroses, impatience, and Chinese fringe flower waiting to be photographed. Also, wild flowers, hostas, freesias and other unknowns waiting to pop up! (this one's my new desktop background!)

a blog of almost completely unrelated things..

So I've been way deep in this social media stuff lately. Blogs and webinars . Tweeting and commenting. Digg , delicious , StumbleUpon , etc. (If your on any of these, by the way, add me!) Oh, gee. I just went about looking for friends on Digg, and turned out I already had a digg. Sheesh. I'll have to see if I can log in and close it out. I had NO idea I had a dig! Anyway, you'll see at the bottom of each post, that I also added this neat little share widget. So, in the occasion that you fine any of my posts interesting enough to share, you can! On facebook, twitter, delicious or even Twackle and Mr. Wong. Whatever those are. Anyway. I've neglected to put up my Friday photos and my Saturday shops! My Friday photos will Monday night photos, posted later tonight, and my Saturday shops will be posted tomorrow. In addition to all this computer nonsense, I've also been spending plenty of time outside. I LOVE working in the yard! :) On Thursday afternoon, I was lat...

I love my house. I love love love it. Sometimes, I swoon to Mike, "Baby! It's our home!" And I'm super excited about our home. We've come a long way. It's not done yet, but most of the big hard stuff is done. I've moved the house photos from Flickr to Picasa . Mostly because I have much more space on Picasa and I want to save my Flickr space for my photos that are more than just snapshots. I had a lot of fun transferring the photos and seeing the progress! I often took pictures of the fireplace, so here's a progression of our living room for you. 31 August 2009: the day we closed on the house 05 September 2009: wall paneling & built-ins gone 31 October 2009: walls mostly dry-walled 29 December 2009: walls fully drywalled, mudded & taped, and primed 09 January 2010: ceiling painted, crown molding and trim around door 27 February 2010: walls & trim painted, floors refinished See the rest of the house photos at th...

Adorable herbs!

source - southern living How adorable is this shallow herb box? I saw it in February's Southern Living and fell in love. I think this is a super cute way to grow herbs. You can use them as outdoor centerpieces. LOVE IT. I am anxious to start planting things at the new house so the yard is filled with colorful flowers and yummy vegetables.

Our washing machine...

...has just crapped out on us. :( UPDATE: okay, well, after much research and taking off the front panel of the machine (by my husband), and then running an cycle...we think it was just a one time thing.

a tour of things in my NEAT AND CLEAN apartment

Bathroom sundries: My (not working) fireplace in my bedroom: Herman & Melville: Strawberry tea: Spices: Spoon collection: Small wine rack: Silk Flowers: Super cool tea set that I got for my birthday: ♥Tiffany♥

all i can think about is food.

i bought an awesome new chair today from goodwill. it's matches my bedroom exactly. and made me realize that my room is smaller than i though and i have no furniture arranging talent i also hung up some cafe rods today...but they have yet to have curtians i was at the gym today. whenever i set the machine (elitical, bike, whatever) to a certain plan...like, say, a hill (my favorite, only Lord knows why!)...i always end up dropping the resistance level when it gets hard. i won't say that it is entirely because i am lazy, but i just don't have the energy to make it up that hill. i've never worked out before now. and all it makes me is hungry. pasta, sundried tomatoes, spinach, garlic, olives...yummy. here i come! ♥Tiffany♥

sickeningly shabby-chic sweet

I have been living in my apartment for almost two months now and... I still have boxes in my bedroom. I still don't have curtains. I still don't own a vaccum cleaner. My baking sheets and pans are still M.I.A. My bedroom is still missing that je ne sais quoi . See, it's so big. And I'm finally realizing that I really need to do something about it. So here is the plan: turn it into two working spaces. Part-bedroom, part-lounge. I want to get some really cool parlour chairs or a chaise lounge or something to make the area near the faux-fireplace into more of a sitting area. It sounds like a fab idea. I also need to post a photo-blog of my new place. It's so cute. This is the view out side my kitchen window. I got that birdfeeder for Christmas (which seems FOREVER ago, doesn't it?) and I've already had to refill it. But I never ever see any birds! Okay, that's a lie. I've seen two birds. I guess they come between the hours of 7:30am and 6:30pm...'c...

New Apartment - Day 5

Oh, did I not tell you? I got a new apartment. It's super. It's a cute 1BR/1BA in the downtown area. No hardwood floors and no washer/dryer...but it's inexpensive and safe. I can't really ask for more. It's pretty spacious too. Oh, and get this...there is some sort of old fashioned fireplace in my bedroom. It doesn't work but it does have a mantle! I definitely like my new apartment much better than my old one. I am so blessed! Almost all of my bills are in my name now. Crazy. Just a two more years 'til my school financing (courtesey of PAYUP, John Heuser, CEO) runs out and then I'm on my own. Crazier. Oh and I'm thinking about joining Mike's gym. Pretty convenient 'cause I can WALK to it from my home! ♥Tiffany♥

Pumpkin Pail

The house is clean. The children are napping. And I just nibbled on pilfered candy (yes, from someone's pumpkin-o-candy)... The day that seemed longer than a drive to Detroit in a sedan with my family is now looking up. Oh, and it's almost 4pm...which means I have two hours of work left to go. Not that I count down the hours or anything...not really. I have an exciting weekend ahead of my and the rest of the month is sure to be anxiety-filled. I'm going up to one of the many small towns "about 1/2 hour outside of Detriot" next week. It's my grandma's funeral. My Dad's step-mom. It's really weird that she's gone. We weren't, like, really close or anything, but she's still my grandma, and she was way cool. She was really sick too, so it wasn't like a surprise. And even though I know that she's in a better place, and that this is what God wanted to happen, it sucks. I think of all the things that I could have done or wanted to do t...

undue emotions

undue emotions tend to show themselves as something else so i pretend to be feeling like i'm not it's a totally farce that i wear to show off my confidence in what in self? well, peanuts to that maybe if i were to be true to myself and to those around me who really matter these undue emotions would ***poof*** on another subject...the apartment search is not going well. i set off today to look at several lovely apartments. the two that i had my hopes set on got SNATCHED out from under my nose. one was in a baaaad neighboorhood (no thanks, i said, i'm trying to get out of a bad neighborhood), another was okay but i didn't really like it. but i guess, when my lease runs out in less than 30 days, i don't have the option of being picky!

A Life of Convenience!

So, I found this apartment. It seems a little too good to be true. It's exactly what I need! A 1BR/1BA basement apartment in the Agusta Rd area. It's $400/month + utilities. It's convenient to school and Mike and not-inconvenient to work. ( Convenient to work would be living in the Golden Strip and that is inconvenient to everything else!) I have an appointment to go check it out tomorrow at 9:00am. I hope it turns out to be a good fit! I really need a new place to live, and soon! My lease ends in 60 days!

Apartment

I get to keep my apartment! Hurrah. I wooed my parents with my domestic skillz. So, when Adam comes to visit, he gets a guest room instead of the couch. "Yeah, that's cool, because I have a friend coming down to visit me from Connecticut." "Oh, that's great!" "Yeah, and now he can use my guest room." "He?" "Yeah." ::pause:: "Don't tell your dad these things."

This House Just Ain't A Home

So, Captain Adam 's most recent blog got me thinking about house vs. home. And I finally realized why I love to go to my parent's house every weekend. They have an actual home. I go in, and I feel warm and welcome. Loved, even, despite the sometimes absense of people. I always thought that it was just because that was my parent's house and that will always be "home" to me. Then I realized that I live in a awful apartment with a barely there roommate (my twin sister) and two cats that are spawn of Satan himself. Thank God I'm still a full-time student and my dad made the mistake of saying he'd pay for this place. Meaning: I'm not paying to live in this dump. I moved in November 17. Bright eyed, bushy tailed, and tied to a one year lease. I cannot wait until November comes around again. I'm getting a different apartment. Hopefully without my sister, definitely without the cats. I love my sister, but it's kind of disappointing living with someone...
