I Say A Little Prayer For You...

--- One of my all time favorite movie scenes is at the end of this clip. Skip to when there is 3:40 left. Jules: Hello, George. George: Hey Gorgeous. Having a good time? Jules: Not particularly, but I did what I came to do. George: What, you split them up? Jules: No, I said 'goodbye.' George: Good girl. I'm proud of you. I'd be prouder still if you were dancing. Jules: Oh, I have big plans for dancing. Just give me thirty, thirty- five years. George: Oh, the misery, the exquisite tragedy...the Susan Hayward of it all. [laughs] I can just picture you sitting there alone at your table in your lavender gown... Jules: Did I tell you my gown was lavender? George: Hair swept up, haven't touched your cake. Probably drumming your fingernails on the white linen table cloth, the way you do when you're really feeling down. I see you looking at those nails thinking, 'God, I should have stopped in all my evil plotting to have that manicure!' But it's too late now...

Je vais aller le "pool hall"?

I had a pretty much fabulous night. After work and school (French class, ugh!) Steve came over. He watched me eat one of my favorite quick dinners (I'm not telling you what it is because I'm slightly embarrassed that you'll see through my fab cooking skillz) and we went downtown. Originally, I assumed we would drive, but it was a nice night, and so we walked. Barley's was closed for a private party. Corner Pocket was closed for some random unknown reason. So we walked around a bit more and ran into several friends. Eventually, we couldn't decide what to do so we decided to head back home. On our way, we passed The Gathering Spot (fondly called "The G Spot"...yes, really) and I noticed that it wasn't too crowded and so we went on in. It was OK...but there was something about the atmosphere that I wasn't keen on. We stayed for about two drinks each before heading to Barley's (which was open by now) and playing some pool. I'll tell you what! S...

So, darlin, save the last dance for me...

Yesterday was a wholly fantastic day. Though, admittedly, I am still sore from it. Well, I suppose one might say it started around 4:11AM when, after falling asleep on the couch watching Ugly Betty, I was awoken by my "I Was Made To Love You" ring tone. It was Clay--we worked at COI together. I, unaware that it was so darn early, thought that he might be calling to tell me that he was on his way to Greenville. I was mistake. However, I was rewarded by being serenaded to by two wonderful camp boys (Clay & Matt). I can't even remember the songs they sang, but it made me laugh. So. Back to bed. My actual bed this time. After, of course, shutting off the TV, A/C, and other living room things. And I woke again the next morning, nice and late at around 10am or so. I showered and spent way too much time picking out clothes for hiking. Clay picked me up around 11 or so. And we made our way up to Camp Old Indian. I had never been up to Old Indian mountain before. I've got ...

My weekend, part two

After the shower, I went to A-town to hang out with Mary and Jeff. I had so much fun. I want to do it again! I love my sister and her boyfriend. :-) Look! The bottle opener is a pink bird! (Maybe a flamingo?) This picture isn't posed at all... Jeff & me making the awesome face. Yes, I let my brand new 9mp camera get that close to water. Yes, I'm dumb sometimes. Mary ♥s Jeff...awww Jeff and I played XBox 360 and Wii! And then I talked on the phone with one of my camp boys for about two hours. And here are some duckies... And today? Let's see... I went to church and afterwards talked with a few people from the mission trip until the sanctuary was empty. Then I went to lunch with some friends (Mexican, yum!) and then went home and uploaded about 180 photos to FaceBook. Then I went to church again. The Truth Project is over and the evening service was finishing up the message from the morning. Afterwards, I talked with someone who I learned has done what I expressly forbade...

What does Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report have in common with 60’s musician Jerry Garcia, rockers Dave Mathews Band, and clown-emcee of Woodstock — Wavy Gravy? Ideologically — not much (or maybe everything?) except taste — as Colbert is now a pint flavor. The flavor, Stephen Colbert’s AmeriCone Dream™ is a decadent melting pot of vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and a caramel swirl. It’s the sweet taste of liberty in your mouth. Recognizing that we, as a country, are at a time in our nation’s history where we need to reach across the aisle to people of all political ideologies — the left-leaning liberals at the company’s headquarters in Vermont felt it was fine to combine forces with the media man-of-steel. The company adds there are many similarities between Colbert and themselves. “He’s about political activism, so are we. He stands up for what he believes in, so do we. He supports Bill O’Reilly, and we… think he has a right to his opinio...

Dearest Michael,

answering night time prayers, for more than just one

I met an angel last night. She said that everyone called her "Miss Mary" and she needed kerosene. I was initially wary of the woman on the side of the road asking for help and even still wary after she got into the car. She mentioned "Shepherd's Gate" though, and so we would be happy to help her out. We ended up not taking her there (to see if she could get kerosene and food vouchers) and took her to the gas station ourselves after a detour to a side of town that, though I live very near, I had only passed, had never gone though. She told us to lock the doors and that she would be right back with the kerosene container. She talked to us the entire time and told us about her life. I'm pretty sure I was blessed just being able to meet her. She prayed with us before we parted ways. Sometimes, I forget how blessed I am and how awesomely God provides for His children. Sometimes, I forget that if we just give it all up to Jesus that He will watch over us and prote...

The good and the bad but the good is stronger

So, let's see...after being woken up at 1:15 AM from Brent-the-stupid-head calling me back (at 1:15??? couldn't you have waited until the next morning?) I woke up at 6:45AM. Go me. When I get to work and say good morning to Alex, he grins at me but pretends not to notice me....until I turn off the TV and tell him to put his pacifier and friend (stuffed animal thing) back in his bedroom. After insisting that his daddy said he could (wrong, kiddo), he goes and asks Mommy. Who also tells him no. Gosh, people! I just want my paci!! I chat with Janelle while she finishes getting ready. Lauren takes one look at me and bursts into tears. How comforting. I know what she is thinking. Oh no. She's back. Why is she back? Why can't I just stay with Mommy? Don't go Mommy. I know you're a doctor, but screw those kids. I'm way more important! This morning...I did a little experiment. I decided to skip Lauren's AM nap. Good idea? Bad idea? WHINY and FUSSY idea. It wasn...
