Julep Maven Box: June 2013 Classic with a Twist

I've opted out on the last few Julep boxes, but I decided to get this one. I am sometimes a sucker for new stuff and I really wanted to try out the DD crème. Also, can I just say how much I love the Julep packaging? A little bit of stuffing and tissue paper goes a long way to make it seem so much nicer.

DD Crème: Dynamic Do-all makeup. Hmmm... Jumping on the BB & CC cream bandwagon, I think. A new product for new hype. Hey, it worked for me... (sucker...)
"This lightweight damage-diminished formula delivers dewy, buildable coverage to moisturize, prime, and perfect. Provides daily defense from UV rays and dramatically decreases the look of pores and fine lines. Nourishing hibiscus and olive extracts add a double dose of hydration. To use: Use a brush, sponge, or fingertips to apply in tin, even layers until you reach your desired coverage."
Sounds like BB cream to me...
The first thing I noticed is that packaging looked nice but felt so cheap. :( It was in a 1 oz squeeze tube which is pretty typical for this type of makeup.

Here is a quick swatch, and I'll have a more in-depth review later. I got the DD crème in Light so this would definitely not work for someone who is seriously pale.

To read what Julep has to say about their DD cream, check out this video.

Kennedy is described on the Julep site as a khaki crème. Kennedy is kind of similar in color to my own skin tone so I wasn't sure if I would like it, but after applying it, I'm now thinking it might be a fun nude.

Martha is described as a polo pink crème. To me, it looks like strawberry ice cream and, thus, LOVE it.

It took me three fairly thin coats to get the colors totally opaque on my nails. Of course, my nails are pretty ridgey, so it might take someone else only two coats.

These two colors complement each other well and I definitely plan on wearing them together.

Julep always throws in some little surprise goodie in the box which I love. I've gotten twist bands and lip balm before. This month? Salt water taffy. Yummy saltwater taffy, to be exact. Yes, it's all gone. :)

DD Cream: $28.80/$28.80
Kennedy nail color: $14.00/$11.20
Martha: $14.00/$11.20
Total value of June's Julep Maven box (excluding taffy): $56.80 or $51.20 if you're a Maven
Amount I paid for the box: $19.99
