Back when we used to live at the house on Coleman Drive, I came home one day to find my dad lying on the floor next to the CD player in the dining room listening to Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone . That was really my first introduction to Harry Potter. Despite having seen many a friend carrying the books around school, I had never actually read any of them--or wanted to, for that matter. Then what happened? I became addicted. So addicted that I had pre -ordered the Special Edition of Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix from Amazon.com and when it didn't come in on the day of release, I went to the Open Book and bought a copy. The pre -ordered Special Edition came in the mail the very next day. The Special Edition is right next to me on the couch and I have no idea where the other book is. I've spent the last week listening to Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix on CD so I could refresh my mind. I'm still listening to it (I'm on chapter ...

Last night, I went over to Brent's and it ended up being a usual evening at his place and I stayed until 5am. Ha-ha. I can't be a night owl like that too often! A few of us hung out, made sushi, and watch L'Auberge Espanol. I've never made sushi before but it was pretty fun--and I did a pretty good job. I banked that on my Asian blood...despite the fact that I'm Filipino and sushi isn't exactly a Filipino dish! It wasn't until maybe midnight that we turned on the movie. Though, we did sit down in front of the TV around, maybe, 11, and took quite some time picking something out. After L'Auberge Espanol (The Spanish Apartment), most left. I was about to leave, until Brent said he was going to probably watch another movie. Something we had joked about made him think of Garden State. So, despite the late hour, I stayed to watch that. Pieces of April has Katie Holmes like I've never seen her. The fresh faced Katie does not make an appearance in this move. Katie Holmes plays the part of April Burns who, according to the tagline is "the one in every family" a.k.a. the black sheep. I'll take April any day, however, over her pompous younger sister, Beth. April is as sweet as can be and, despite having been practically ostracized from the rest of her family, has invited them over for Thanksgiving dinner. April is in her rather sketchy New York apartment trying desperately to make a dinner that she's not even sure her family will show up for when her stove breaks. The movie follows April as she navigates her wonderfully interesting neighbors trying to find someone who will lend her an oven. Meanwhile the Burns family is on their way up to April's. "Hooh! Aah! Hooh! Aah! That's the sound of the men working on the chain gang!" That was one of the things that came to mind while watching " Cool Hand Luke ," another one of the movies from our Netflix list. I didn't really know what to expect from this movie, but I greatly enjoyed it. Luke finds himself in a rural prison for sawing off the tops of parking meters. There are not only a ton of rules at this place but a certain social order. Luke refuses to conform. He finds himself going head to head with the big guy in prison and underneath the bosses that are determined to break him. It's a determination inspiring type of movie. Oh and there is a scantily-clad-woman-washing-car scene in it too. Carr: Them clothes got laundry numbers on them. You remember your number and always wear the ones that has your number. Okay, so I don't know what is with the corn on a stick, but that movie was hilarious. Something about Jack Black with a Mexican accent and stretchy pants... If you haven't seen it, it's about a man who is a Friar by day and a Luchador by night. Oh, and he is in love with the new nun in town. At first, he wants to win the fights for the money and to prove himself, but by the end he fights for the orphans he loves. It's very funny, yes, you'll laugh so hard while watching this movie. However, most critics think it stinks up to high heaven. Roger Ebert of the Chicago-Sun Times says, "It takes some doing to make a Jack Black comedy that doesn't work. But Nacho Libre does it." I wouldn't care to be so harsh. It's a silly movie. Not a lot of thought required. I enjoyed the movie. I'd see it again. I know the wrestlers get all the fancy ladies, and the clothes, and the fancy creams and lotions. But my life is good! Really good! I get to wake up e...

A weird movie. Very weird. So, there is a guy who is trying to find the 216 digit number contained within π that will "unlock the secrets of the universe." Secrets such as the name of God (according to some scary Jewish rabbis) or predicting the stock market (according to some even scarier businessmen). Just so you know, the main character does discover that number (I think), but he never tells anyone...including us. It didn't really keep me that enthralled.

I'm feeling yucky. Ugh. I couldn't sleep all night long. I think, maybe, I got a total of an our of sleep all night. So annoying. The only thing that has been helping my cough is this yucky medicine that Mike gave me. Why does medicine have to be gross? I put on a movie and hoped that I could fall asleep in front of that...but no. Bridget Jones' Diary: The Edge of Reason is actually a very annoying movie. I don't know why I didn't realize this before. The interactions between Marc and Bridget are really frustrating. The Thai prison scenes, though, are fully excellent. ♥Tiffany♥

Mili dreams of being a famous actress one day. She is on the dance troupe of a movie, but nothing more than a back-up girl. Munna, Mili's friend, helps her to make it big. Mili gets her big break when Kamal, a famous actor, wants Mili as the heroine of his next big film, Rangeela (Colorful One). Mili and Kamal get very close and Munna feels completely left out of Mili's new world and unable to compete with big-shot Kamal. Both Kamal and Munna are in love with her, oblivious to Mili. Who will she choose? The movie starts out really slow, but that's how I hear a lot of Hindi movies are. It is also incredibly cheesy...more so, I am told from friend who are much more Bollywood savvy than I, that most Hindi movies. There is, of course, a lot of singing and dancing. Not unlike a 1980's Pepsi commercial. Mili looks awkward when she dances. Kamal looks REALLY bad in a speedo. Munna looks like an Indian George Michael. Amazing Grace was a wonderful movie that will truly move you. I was completely immersed in the film about William Wilberforce's endeavors to abolish the slave trade in Great Brittan. Though, a previous comment from an unnamed man almost ruined it for me. I shall not repeat his comment to your for fear of spoiling your enjoyment of the movie. This film takes you over the course of about 16 years, and a magnificent job is done of aging the characters. Wilberforce's passion and dedication is inspiring. Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found Was blind, but now I see. 'Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear, And Grace my fears relieved. "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is one of the most famous phrases in the United States Declaration of Independence. These three aspects are listed among the "unalienable rights" of man. This is such a wonderful movie! If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend that you do. Will Smith plays Chris Gardner, a father struggling to give his son Christopher (Jaden Smith, Will Smith's son) a better life. Chris, a man who tries to sell a superfluous piece of medical equipment, tries out for an unpaid stockbroker internship with amazing prospects if he succeeds. Based on a true story, this movie will really tug at your heart strings. The most powerful scene, I believe, is the Dinosaurs in the Subway scene. And if you don't know what the heck I'm talking about--go watch the movie. I like Jennifer Anniston, but "Rumor Has It..." was a weird movie. Have you ever seen or read "The Graduate"? I haven't. But this movie is supposed to be about the family that "The Graduate" was based on. Sarah Huttinger [Jennifer Anniston] discovers this about her family and goes of to find if Beau Burroughs [Kevin Costner] is her biological father. Sarah : Maybe every girl in my family has to sleep with you. Beau Burroughs : I don't know if they have to, but they certainly have.

I just watched two fairytales on TV. Ella Enchanted and Pretty Woman . I loved Ella Enchanted , it was so sweet. I love Anne Hathaway and she was great in this cute little flick. She got the happy ending. I like happy endings. Ella was beautiful and smart and she married Prince Charming. Oh, and she could sing. Pretty Woman is a modern day fairytale of a different sort. I mean, it's a different concept. Who thinks up " lets make up this movie about this guy who picks up a hooker "? She ends up getting the fairytale anyway, though, doesn't she? I love happy endings. I want a happy ending. I want someone who thinks about me during the day and then dreams about me at night. I'm all in a lovey-dovey mood right now. That doesn't happen to entirely often. Despite all my dreaming about guys, I often refer to it as, "Yucky love stuff" I want some yucky love stuff right about now. ♥~Tiffany~♥
