from the inbox: a little christian humor

It's been a while since I've been emailed anything I thought was worth sharing. In fact, I don't think I've shared anything "from the inbox" since I switched blogs. Well, I got this from my dad today, and I just had to share it with you: Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering. Finally fed up, God said, 'THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job.' So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away. They moused. They faxed. They e-mailed... They e-mailed with attachments. They downloaded.... They did spreadsheets! They wrote reports.. They created labels and cards. They created charts and graphs. They did some genealogy reports. They did every job known to man. Jesus work...

Self-Control

You know what really helped me finish my papers and study for exams? SelfControl . Not my own, though, because I get too distracted.  There's a downloadable application called SelfControl . You put a list of sites on the blacklist (twitter, facebook, youtube, etc) and then set the timer. I set the time for an hour so I would study and write my paper, then I would get a study break to check my email and for a few minutes. After my little break, I would set the timer again.  I promise this isn't a paid advertisement! Ha-ha. SelfControl was just really helpful for me and I wanted to recommend it to any of your procrastinators out there. It's FREE but, um, it's for OS X. Sorry, PC.

Free Music

When my PC crashed, I lost all of my music. I was pretty dang bummed about this. Later, however, I found out that you can download free MP3s over at Amazon.com! My friend Paul , who runs the swing dance scene around here, sent out a link to a Willie Nelson song that was free from Amazon. I did a little looking around and found the list of almost 600 FREE songs! This include songs by Beirut, Ani DiFranco, Barenaked Ladies and more. As per my own music, I did some searching around and found out how to get the songs I purchased from iTunes off my iPod and onto my new computer. Thank goodness! ^_^ ♥, TiffanyAnne

apple.com/macbook/white/

My sister wants to know why I paid so darn much for a computer. It was a hard decision to make. Because, really, I could have gotten a perfectly decent computer for 600. But, then again, the Mac was only 999. And that's not so darn much. I saw the beautiful computers with their glowing apple the minutes I walked into the store. But a mac? Seriously? I don't need a mac. And I quickly bypassed them and wandered around for the next 30 minutes or more--probably driving my mother crazy. Finally, I settled on the same computer my brother has. That was the computer I wanted. Pretty dang nice computer, I think. (I'm pretty sure it's this Toshiba computer.) But Mike called and was giving me some computer buying advice that, in the end, boiled down to... A Toshiba for 899 or a MacBook for only 100 more? That's a no brainer... B-b-but...it's a Mac . I mean. I'm not a creative person who needs a mac for any sort of appley things. I'm a simple computer user. I mean...

Do you know what this is? It's my new MacBook. Booyah. ♥, TiffanyAnne p.s. the thrilling saga of the duck will be continuing tomorrow. though, i have lost a lot of the photos

How to be a better stalker

Have you heard of Pipl ? It's a people-search engine that goes down into the "deep web" to help you find who your looking for. This is rather helpful if you are looking for a long lost friend or loved one. Pipl is also rather helpful if you are trying to be a creepy stalker. Pipl is, to quote Worthington Wire , a "people search engine so good, it will scare your pants off." I searched my family members to see what would come up. My father has a pretty common name, so that turned up lots of people who weren't actually him. My brother's search turned up some public records and his Flick photos. My sister has two names that she goes by; The first one turned up her old myspace profile and basic things like that. Her second one turned up every makeup blog under the sun. My mother has about zero online presence; Her search took so long that, after waiting ten minutes, I left the computer and waited for the search to finish and got just about nothing. Searching...

Nothing says "I Love You" like a cell phone

Several cell phone companies are offering Valentine's Day sales--because nothing says "I Love You" like a cell phone. Who gets cellphones as gifts anyway? And who gives them? I just find it rather odd. A cell phone comes with a contract (and if it doesn't then it is usually ridiculously expensive!) and it's not like you can just sign someone up for a two-year contract that they didn't even ask for. There are, of course, exceptions. Maybe your boyfriend was just salivating over those iPhones. Maybe you surprised your best friend by telling her that you were getting her a new phone and you went to pick it out together. In the commercials--which clearly are mirrors of true and actual events--the people get phones as a surprise. Did the gifter sign them up for the two-year contract? Or did the gifter pay the ridiculous sum to buy the phone without any signing bonuses. Have you ever given/received a cell phone as a gift? Let me know, because I don't think I kno...

blogging from my phone.

I can blog from my phone. I just send text messages to an email address which I will not disclose, ha, and voila, it pops up. Did everyone know that this was possible but me? Now, I wonder if I can get rid of that VZW nonsense after the picture. The "sent using the Picture and Video Messaging" is one thing, but the two whole paragraphs is annoying. ♥, TiffanyAnne
