I've got 8 exclusive Google Wave invites available. Anybody want a piece of this? If you already have Google Wave, let's be friends! tiffanyheuser@googlewave.com (To be honest, I don't really get it...but you can read about it here .)

Self-Control

You know what really helped me finish my papers and study for exams? SelfControl . Not my own, though, because I get too distracted.  There's a downloadable application called SelfControl . You put a list of sites on the blacklist (twitter, facebook, youtube, etc) and then set the timer. I set the time for an hour so I would study and write my paper, then I would get a study break to check my email and for a few minutes. After my little break, I would set the timer again.  I promise this isn't a paid advertisement! Ha-ha. SelfControl was just really helpful for me and I wanted to recommend it to any of your procrastinators out there. It's FREE but, um, it's for OS X. Sorry, PC.

Physics of Lindy Hop

If any of you are on Facebook, you need to check out a video I just watched about the physics of lindy hop . It's a really cool video with two amazing dancers: Nick Williams & Carla Heiney. In this video they do some really smooth dances moves and cool aerials which are then played back in slow motion to and analyzed. This was on the Discovery Channel show "Time Warp." I tried to find it on YouTube so that I could embed it here, but no such luck.  Oooh, also found a video on the "Time Warp" website: the Lindy Spin in slow motion . Will I be thinking about any of this next time I go dancing? Umm...probably not, but it's very interesting to learn. :)

Happy Birthday Frankie!

When you start lindy hopping, it isn't long before you learn where everybody buys their dance shoes (dancestore.com) or the right places to get those shoes fixed. You know the same YouTube videos that all the lindyhoppers have seen a dozen times (2006 fast lindy liberation finals, anyone?). You also know the famous people of swing. One of the most famous persons you'll learn about is Frankie Manning, an award winning dancer and choreographer. Frankie is well loved by the swing community and today he turns 95--and still going dancing! For his birthday, one of the ways for lindyhoppers to honor Frankie on his birthday was the Global Shim-Sham . We did this in Greenville and you can watch us in the above video. ♥, TiffanyAnne

She holds you captivated in her palm

Hey guys! Do you ever read my sister's blog:  MaryCommentary ? It's a bit more ...um...  controversial liberal sexy ...it's just different from In Pursuit . Mary a.k.a.  Stargirl  is not only my super sweet twin sister, but she was my first ever inspiration to write--and now I'm a journalism major! So, go check out her blog. While you're there, read the guest post I wrote for her Free For All Fridays about  online games that help do good . ♥, TiffanyAnne

Rumor has it...

ANNOUNCEMENT: ladies pls. DON'T go to any WAL-MARTS 2nite. news has CONFIRMED gang initiation will take place 2nite. target to kill 3 women. Someone I follow tweeted the above earlier today. I've seen similar warning pop up in the facebook status of some of my friends or in email chain letters. Have you been bombarded by "gang initiation" text messages, emails, or tweets lately? I'm going to take this opportunity to share with everyone a wonderful website called Snopes. If you haven't heard of the website, I think their logo tell you what they're about: rumors. The website determines the truth value of rumors, urban legends, old wives tales, strange news stories, etc. Some fantastic stories are actually true while others, like the above, are false. For me, Snopes.com is the place to verify something that's been handed my way. Oh, and the page for the gang initiation rumor can be found here: Gang Targets Women at Walmart . ♥, TiffanyAnne

How to be a better stalker

Have you heard of Pipl ? It's a people-search engine that goes down into the "deep web" to help you find who your looking for. This is rather helpful if you are looking for a long lost friend or loved one. Pipl is also rather helpful if you are trying to be a creepy stalker. Pipl is, to quote Worthington Wire , a "people search engine so good, it will scare your pants off." I searched my family members to see what would come up. My father has a pretty common name, so that turned up lots of people who weren't actually him. My brother's search turned up some public records and his Flick photos. My sister has two names that she goes by; The first one turned up her old myspace profile and basic things like that. Her second one turned up every makeup blog under the sun. My mother has about zero online presence; Her search took so long that, after waiting ten minutes, I left the computer and waited for the search to finish and got just about nothing. Searching...

Share with me!

I was sitting around the table with Anne Marie , Caleb, and Lauren having a little bit of a laptop party and Anne Marie and I were fussing around trying to figure out how on earth you share things on google reader . Well, we figured it out and now I want to know if anyone of you want to share with me! You can see my shared items here just so you know what you're getting into. I've only shared a few things from today...mostly dumb things...but I promise they'll get better than LOLcats . I mean, if things can get better than LOLcats . ♥, TiffanyAnne

Go west, young man

Mike went out west with some friends in search of some bigger hills upon which to snowboard. Which means I'm having lots of girl time this weekend! :) I remembered this video he made from the 2006 snowboarding trip and I thought I'd share. I like the 2nd half...with all the wipouts. LOL ;) ♥, TiffanyAnne

Miss me much?

I hope you say yes. I've been busy, super busy. I went to an Indian seminar this past weekend and I have been bogged down with school. So bogged down, in fact, that I haven't been lindy hopping in three weeks. Gasp--but, I'm hanging in there. It's not like I haven't been online, though, because I totally have. I want to share with you a few of my new loves and additions to the RSS feed. Worthington Wire - created by Mrs. Fussypants who describes it as a sort of "“Drudge for Chicks” DivineCaroline - a website full of articles written by real women on every topic under the sun. ♥, TiffanyAnne

Real Advice From Real Women

Okay, so, I found the cutest website just now and I have got to share. The way this website works, I think, is that a user posts a question and other users share their own tips as to how to solve various dilemas. For example: How to keep children amused on what feels like an interminable family holiday? How to grow garden pot plants that your dog won't chew? How to poop discreetly at your boyfriend's house? How to clean your foundation brush? How to fall asleep faster and easier? Why, yes, that was very random! I could get addicted to this website very quickly just wandering around and seeing what random things people need advice with and the tips people give. ♥, TiffanyAnne
