My Dad Rocks

These photos were taken sometime in mid-May. Just a little everyday goodness. :) My sweet little guy. He so desperately wanted to be able to sit up that day, but kept falling over, hehe.

Outtakes from Joseph's six month photos

Wait--that photo shoot is NOW? I'll do my baby pushups, but I won't like it!  Two necessary breaks: one for sock-eating and one for sitting on mommy's lap. This backdrop...it's not really necessary is it?

#partypartyapp

I don't usually post right to the blog something that I just posted on Instagram, but I had to share about this new app! It's called Party Party and it's a photo booth app. You can save the photos as a collage or a strip OR (best part) as a GIF. Aww yeah. I see this becoming my new favorite app. Joseph is less enthused.

Instagramming

I've been a pretty absent blogger since Joseph was born. Just a bunch of photos here and there. I'm not sure that it will get any better. But if you are ever wondering what I'm up to, you can certainly always find me on Instagram . I post a super cute photo of my little buggy almost daily. :)

Joseph is six months old!

Correction, Joseph was six months old at the end of June. So at the time of this posting, he is six and a half months old. Whaa? These photos were taken on June 30th, it's just taken me forever to get around to posting them. These photos were much more difficult to take because someone did NOT want to sit for photos. And that is why you'll find some of toys in this session. Our backdrop for these photos? A white fabric shower curtain clipped to his crib! And yes! My little buggy is a big sitter upper. Joseph also really loves sucking on his lower lip. It's so cute and Mike and I always ask him, "How's that bottom lip tasting?" Haha. You know what's more fun than taking photos? Playing peek-a-boo! Super cute bib, right? We got it from our local Saturday market, but they're also available on Etsy . (Not an ad, I just like to support local.)

Eating sweet potatoes!

Jojo has now become an solid food eater! He's had just a couple of purees, but I'm focusing on doing baby led weaning . Which is just to say, I'm letting him feed himself. I decide what he eats, where he eats, and when he eats, and he is welcome to decide how much. We're operating on the "food before one is just for fun" premise, because this little guy loves milk and I'm hoping to breastfeed at least until his birthday.  For his first actual solids (as opposed to purees), I cut up and steamed a sweet potatoes we got from our local famers' market. I actually steamed it so much that it turned into mashed sweet potatoes the minute he got them! That was okay. Messy, but okay. :) And really, in retrospect, I maybe should not have dressed him in long sleeves that morning. Luckily, the shirt washed clean with no problem. As you can see in the photos, Joseph had fun eating--and playing--with his sweet potatoes! A few days later we tried a ripe...

Brunch with Uncle Leo

The other day, Joseph and I spent the morning hanging out with my brother Leo. We decided to go downtown for brunch and ended up at Tupelo Honey Cafe.  Nothing like day drinking with your big bro. Mimosa for me and Bloody Mary for Leo. These were delicious, by the way. Joseph fell asleep in the Ergo while we were walking around trying to pick a place. When we were seated at Tupelo, I unclipped him and placed him in the bench. He continued to nap and, once he woke up, he was content to just look around and be cute while we ate. I'm so blessed to have such a happy little boy! Tupelo's delicious biscuits and blueberry preserves. These are SO good! Being silly with Uncle Leo :) Babywearing mama! This is the best way to hang out with your baby. Joseph rarely rides in a stroller!

My first Mother's Day

For Mother's Day, Mike suggested we have a little picnic in the park. I couldn't imagine a better way to spend the day! On a blanket in the shade watching my two favorite guys have fun together. Afterwards, my parents and brother joined us at our house for some vanilla ice cream and homemade caramels. Yummy! :) That evening was Joseph's baby dedication! What a sweet way to end Mother's Day. His dedication was made even more special because Alan was the one doing the baby dedications on Sunday evening. Backstory for those who don't know: Alan and his wife are very dear friends to us. Also, they let us take over their home and get married in the backyard, with Alan officiating our wedding. So, you know, it was only right that he did Joseph's baby dedication.
