Huntington Island beach trip...

I did something this previous weekend that not many gals would be willing to do. I went on a trip to the beach with a bunch of Boy Scouts. To read the story, go here . That is Crew 9's blog where we can post pics and info about our adventures. Funny thing happened down at the beach. I was recognized by an out-of-council Scoutmaster! It's the first time since I've worked at COI that I've been recognized by someone other than those I have some sort of affiliation with. When some of the scouts saw me as we were loading up: "Hey! It's Tiffany! It's Tiffany from the Trading Post. I bought socks from her!" Yes, this was my "sock troop." Jas , one of the older scouts who is a pretty cool kid, would bring the boys in and say, "Tiffany thinks Scout socks are cool." Yeah...I was constantly restocking socks that week. Usually, we won't do stuff with the troop, but, for my first trip, I'm glad we did. I absolutely loved sitting ar...

Happiness

About a year ago, Mike and I went to the Biltmore Estate. (Read about it here .) We ended up becoming pass holders because we knew that we would come up again in less than a year and if you only go twice is saves you money. (We went again with his family in August.) Well, our passes expire this coming Friday, so we decided to go one last time. I worked that morning (the kids and I made cards for their mom) but was off before noon. So, in the dreary weather we took off up through the Carolina mountains--it's a beautiful drive. Even the best artist on Earth doesn't have as many colors on his palate--or computer, as the case may be--as God. :-) The sun came out and made for a beautiful day! This time, while going through the house, we took the "audio tour" a.k.a. you wander around looking silly because you have headphones attached to you by a bright orange cord. The audio tour is great! I learned so much--though I got confused once and began to hear about the Salon while...

Michigan Trip, in short...

I found myself writing this blog in a day-by-day diary of our trip. Then I read it over and found that it was very boring. So, at the bottom is a brief summary in incomplete sentences if you're really that curious. All in all, it was a fabulous trip. It really was. It was only about two-and-a-half days, which was the perfect amount of time. There were no fights or drama or tension, just a lot of fun. I got to meet more of Mike's family, all of whom I greatly enjoyed. I had the absolute best time with Racki (Mike's cousin's wife) and her son Noah. I was nervous at first because I was dropped off at their house and met Racki two minutes before Mike and the guys took off, but we got along superbly. I also got to meet Mike's sister, brother-in-law and their gaggle of children. I learned that the north isn't all that different from the south. The difference? We have more churches and hills but no Meijer's or Coney Island's. Oh and more paved roads but no Rock...

Mini-trip Part II - got monks?

...a partial tour of the Belmont Abbey College campus. For a better tour...go there, it's right off I-85. Do you know that I am the only one of my siblings who does not live at an Abbey? Well, I think I should live at Pinckney Abbey...thought I might not be able to name my place of residence that seeing as I am not an abbot. Here is the "nasty Texas creek," I don't know why it's called that, but there you go. Mary admiring the nasty Texas creek. Holy Grounds...a very unique name for a coffee house, wouldn't you say? Mary again, checking her mail. I don't think she had any, so you need to send her some letters. The BAC seal. If you walk over it, you won't graduate...so they say. I can't recall what all of it means. St. Leo's hall named after Leo Haid. He was not canonized. Inside is the Catholic store where you can buy really cool things, such as a bear wearing a hoodie that says "got monks?" Uh, yeah. I don't think it gets very mu...
